Taylor Steele and the Love Preachers are a five piece band with a powerful woman singer/songwriter as its driving force. Based out of Effingham, IL, they have evolved and grown tight in the span of two years. In 2019, fans and festival promoters alike all claimed that they have improved immensely in just the past year. This is due to spending countless hours together preparing their original songs for the studio and recording their first album. It's hard to place them into one genre as they are the combination of roots, soul, country, blues, jazz, funk, and jam influences. The band consists of lead vocals, acoustic resonator, and electric tele by Taylor Steele, lead guitar by James Stewart, bass by Garrett Burris, drums by Kyle Heynen, and keys by Nick Szwedo. Their chemistry is untouched and you can feel it radiating from the stage through Taylor's phrasing, improvisation, and how each band member plays off of each other.
Taylor Steele and the Love Preachers have a way of sneaking up on you. The music is souful, but sublime. The songs are smart and original, with roots that take you through rock and roll back to the blues of the old south. The vocal quality of Taylor Steele is reminiscent of great singers of the past like Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell but also modern stars like Susan Tedeschi and Gillian Welch. And just when you think you have it figured out, the Love Preachers start preaching, Taylor’s voice starts soaring and they take you for the ride of your life.
